This past spring, Canada's National Ballet School hosted an online alumni reunion to commemorate their 60th celebration and connect NBS' past and present community.
The two-day online event included panel discussions centered on ballet education and milestones in NBS history followed by a virtual party. "We used Kumospace for the social aspect of the event, and it was really fun. We had around 250 people show up," says Emilia Mesa, NBS' Development/Partnership Events Coordinator.
The dance school designed their Kumospace to match decades, and guests hopped in a speakeasy, disco diner, or locals bars, among other floors to visit which era they had attended NBS. According to Emilia, NBS also had several floors that mirrored what the school looks like such as the dining room and a classroom.
"We really liked that it was an opportunity to feel like a real life experience similar to our cocktail receptions that we have at the school… People being able to easily move around the floor and catch up was really important," Emila says. Guests were delighted to discover virtual red wine and to drop in and out of conversations with ease.
Emilia says she is looking forward to recreating a dance studio in Kumospace since the platform recently launched a custom spaces feature. She's also excited about the new virtual drink options such as water, cola, ice tea, and cocktails.
